AIG chief slashes salary to U$1

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- AIG Chief Executive Edward Liddy agreed to slash his annual salary to $1 as part of a series of voluntary pay restrictions by top executives tied to a massive $150 billion government bailout.

AIG (AIG, Fortune 500) will also forgo bonuses this year and eliminate pay increases through 2009 for the firm's top executives.

Liddy will get paid $1 per year for 2008 and 2009, with his compensation consisting entirely of equity payments. While he will not receive bonuses during those years, he will be eligible in 2010 for "extraordinary performance." He will also be ineligible for severance payments.

"This action by the senior management team demonstrates not only that we understand our obligation to taxpayers and shareholders, but also that we are committed to the future success of this organization," said Liddy in a statement.

In addition to Liddy, Paula Reynolds, whom AIG hired as chief restructuring officer in October, will receive no salary or bonuses in 2008. From 2009 onward, any compensation above her base pay will be tied to the progress of AIG's restructuring.

"It is only fair that top executives, who benefit the most when firms do well, should also bear the burden of the difficult economic consequences their firms now face," said New York state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in response to a letter from Liddy informing him of the pay cuts.

Cuomo had voiced concern about AIG's expenditures in October after it was reported that the company had spent $440,000 on a weekend meeting at a resort. Subsequently, AIG immediately cancelled 160 events, worth an estimated $8 million.

Government help: AIG has been in full-blown cost-cutting mode since October, as it has been receiving billions in government loans.

AIG's total government bailout grew to $152.5 billion this month.

"If anything, [the pay cuts are] largely symbolic," said Bill Bergman, senior equities analyst with investment research firm Morningstar.

He said AIG's problems have been mostly internal, partially stemming from a series of failed investments, according to Bergman.

Earlier this month, the government reworked AIG's original tough bailout terms, which were meant to deter those that could bail themselves out.

As AIG started having trouble repaying the bridge loan, the government agreed to new terms, including reducing the original $85 billion bridge loan to $60 billion and cutting the interest rate. (Full story)

Lim Swee Say mum on expected pay hike for ministers

If one just take a glance at the misleading Straits Times headlines today “Pay cut for civil service ?” without reading the entire article, one may have the impression that the entire civil service including our rich ministers are taking the moral lead of cutting their pay packages during this difficult time.

It was reported in the article that “A significant part of the annual pay for a senior civil servant or minister takes the form of a GDP Bonus, which is linked to growth in the gross domestic product”.

From my limited understanding, there is a difference between one’s monthly pay and end year bonus.

The civil service may receive less bonus, but their monthly pay is still unaffected. Both Mr Tharman and Mr Lim Swee Say have kept mum when asked directly if the ministers and senior civil servants will take a pay cut.

This is what they say:

Mr Tharman: “We’re not here to grandstand”

Mr Lim Swee Say: “From the labour movement, I think we will not be surprised (if) the public sector sees a wage cut because with the GDP declining, that must factor into the flexible component of wages.”

Now are we any wiser after listening to what our brilliant ministers have to say ?

What is so difficult of clarifying clearly if they are going to reduce their monthly pay packages which is expected to be raised from the current 77 per cent of a salary benchmark to 88 per cent. The benchmark is set at two-thirds of the median pay of the top eight earners in each of six sectors.

The pay hike was implemented in the year 2006 when our economy is booming. Since Singapore is now in recession, shouldn’t the ministers’ salary be re-adjusted to the pre-2006 level ?

For example, if a minister is receiving S$150,000 monthly now, it should be reduced to S$100,000 or less to save costs for the government. I am sure our ministers can still survive with a monthly salary of S$100,000.

Since the civil service salaries are now pegged to the private sector as a benchmark, then they should follow the latter’s example to reduce the pay and even retrench under-performing civil servants and ministers.

In short, the PAP ministers cannot have their cake and eat it. If they expect us to pay them salaries which commensurate with the private sector, then they should adopt standard practices of the private sector during times of economic downturn.

Why do we need 4 ministers in the Prime Minister’s office ? Can’t our highest paid Prime Minister in the world govern the country on his own ?

DISILLUSIONED - Letter from DBS employee

I am a staff of DBS and i am really disappointed with DBS for resorting to such a measure. This company reeks of hypocrisy. Just look at the marketing slogan they have spent so much money on to portray happy staff showing the "can-do" spirit helping communities around. Just look at the advertisements they spent so much money on, placing on ads on buses showing smiling employees. They sure know how to spent so much money on marketing that their employees are happy and how much DBS bank values them by recognising them.

Firstly, before such a drastic measure is taken, i feel that DBS should at least use some other measure first, such as reducing pay from the top brass, before cutting off employees who might earn only S$2000-4000 a month. A typical managing director or SVP should be earning about S$400,000- 700,000 a year, excluding bonuses. Reducing by half of such a high salary to S$200,000-350,000 is ok, don’t you think so and this would have saved 8-29 normal employees jobs just from a cut of 1 managing director pay. Frankly, a big part of the responsibility of steering a ship safely should lie in the hands of the so called captains. Let's see if DBS bank will do the right thing.

Secondly, a 13% drop in net earnings is bad but if placed in perspective by comparing with foreign banks or companies it is still ok. Just a 13% drop and they are retrenching 6% of their staff. Look at for example Citigroup. They are facing much more than 90% drop in net earnings and they have axed only like 10-30% of their global workforce. This just reeks of total job instability for working with DBS bank, a local bank that is supposed to be relatively conservative in their activities and supposed to be a bank close to the hearts of Singaporeans.

Thirdly, its common knowledge that foreign banks pay more than DBS bank or local banks. Something like up to 2 times a salary for someone doing the similar job. By paying an employee less during boom times, shouldn't there be more job stability during recessionary time during bad times?

I am truly disappointed with DBS bank. They have made gaffes after gaffes. First with Fixed Deposit boxes, cheques being cleared wrongly, mini bonds and now axing staff without thinking of the possible alternative measures first.

Please do the right thing DBS. Or at least, stop being hypocritical by portraying happy smiling staff and save the marketing expenses.

Citigroup and JPMorgan Still at Risk, Says Analyst

Now that Citigroup has announced massive costs cuts and been bailed out by taxpayers, the worst is over, right?

Nope!!!

Citigroup is still hugely exposed to weakening consumer debt, and its loans are going bad at the highest rate in the industry. Thanks to an accounting-rule change, Citi will also be forced to put another U$150 billion of "off-balance sheet" debt back on its balance sheet which will put it in an even more precarious position. Citi will end up needing another cash infusion from the government, Whalen says, and this will dilute existing shareholders.

Nor is Citigroup the only huge bank for which the future is bleak,JPMorgan is next in line. And before the financial crisis is through, taxpayers will have to bail out JPM again, too. ( Note: Whalen has no position in Citi or JPMorgan. )

DBS retrenchment: The unkindest cut of all

DBS Bank’s retrenchment bombshell has its after-effects beyond its timing, suddenness and audacity. It goes to the core of Singapore’s jealously-guarded and famously-touted gold standard of labour relations. That gold standard, pieced together by sheer force, determination and economic carrots, is now under a grim spotlight.

The trade union movement and its leader, Mr Lim Swee Say, need to look itself in the mirror and ask a number of difficult questions:

How is it that the DBS staff union knew of the decision to lay off about 500 workers only three days before the employees and the public knew about it?

Why did the management not discuss with the staff union other cost-cutting measures before wielding the axe?

More fundamentally, what happened to the friendship and partnership that unions like the DBS staff union were supposed to build up with the management?

Instead of doing some introspection, Mr Lim went on the offensive on Friday. He accused the DBS bosses of not consulting the staff union, questioned why they did not think of flexible wages and work arrangements before going for the unkindest cut of all and warned of losing the trust of Singaporeans.

Brave words, spoken like a militant trade leader would.

If any, the one salutary effect it will have is on those companies that are planning similar moves. With the country in recession and with the outlook looking worse before it can get better, Mr Lim is facing his biggest challenge as secretary general of the National Trades Union Congress. His top priority must be to keep layoffs to a minimum.

DBS’ pre-emptive strike, without consulting its trade union partners, has thrown that ambition out of whack. The timing was also horrible. It came just a day after he made page one headlines when he announced a fund that employers can draw from to send workers not fully occupied for training, primarily for the aim of saving jobs. DBS’ retrenchment also cuts close to the bone because Mr Lim is the advisor to the DBS staff union branch.

To make matters worse, DBS Bank is not an ordinary bank. Neither is it an ordinary employer. Its roots are in Singapore, it is seen as government-linked and its actions are taken as a bell-weather of things to come.

If DBS can do it, why can’t we? You might understand if there are bosses out there thinking like this.

And for NTUC and Mr Lim, this episode throws open a rare trait of Singapore’s labour union movement to scrutiny: Its ability to maintain industrial harmony because of its closeness to management and government. The DBS action will make many wonder: What went wrong?

It could be that DBS had to see itself not just as a Singapore-only bank. It operates in 16 countries and is responsible for 15,000 workers. With a vast international network and its advertising tagline saying “Living, Breathing Asia”, it can’t be seen to axe only workers in overseas branches. So equal misery must have become the mantra.

Still the suddenness and haste with which the cuts were administered and Mr Lim’s sharp reactions have given the labour movement and the political leadership much to think about

Navel gazing is not such a bad thing, especially in a crisis.

Man digs under house to remove home-made Lamborghini
Ken Imhoff began building the sports car after falling in love with it during the movie Cannonball Run.

He built his own version in the basement of his home in Wisconsin, USA, over a period of 10 years.

However, when he finished assembling it, he was confronted with the problem of how to get the car out.

Since there was no garage door through which to drive the vehicle,

he was forced to hire an excavator to gouge out a slope in his garden

and then dig down into the foundations of his house.

The car was then hooked up to the excavator and pulled out.

Despite the amount of effort involved, Mr Imhoff said that it was all worth it.

SM GOH CHOK TONG ASKS SINGAPOREANS TO SPEND MORE

“If all of us go into a power save mode, then the economy will really go into a recession! This is what economists called the Paradox of Thrift.”

Our take: WOW, when Singapore’s economy grow, the credit goes to the PAP which prompty raise their salaries. When Singapore goes into recession, the fault lies with Singaporeans for not spending enough ! Remember how the blame for Mas Selamat’s escape is conveniently shifted to Singaporeans - because we are too complacent !

“Singaporeans are being complacent when they believe that the Government will take care of all security matters” ( MM Lee Kuan Yew on Mas Selamat’s escape, 5 April 2008, Straits Times )

“If you have sufficient savings and can afford to spend, you should continue to spend on life’s little pleasures.”

Our take: Previously, the PAP has been exhorting us to cut down on our spending all the while and now SM Goh asks us to spend. Or have he forgotten what his colleage Lim Hng Kiang said in November last year:

“First, the CPI measures average changes in prices across all households. Whether there is an increase in the cost of living for a particular household depends on that household’s spending patterns. Switching to cheaper products can reduce the cost of living despite a rise in the CPI” ( Lim Hng Kiang urging Singaporeans to switch to ‘cheaper’ products to cope with rising cost of living, 14 November 2007, Straits Times )

“Take your family to the movies, shop, dine out at restaurants and hawker centres, go for your regular foot massage, indulge yourself at a spa, take a taxi, donate to charity and so on. This way, we keep the economy going. In fact, I would say when times are a little slow, you could get the best bargain.”

Our take: SM Goh must be kidding. Only his wife, who earns more than a peanut a year is able to indulge in such luxuries, not ordinary folks like us who are struggling to pay for our utility bills, transport fares and three basic meals for the day. Can we get a better bargain now by shipping out our expensive ministers and replacing them with cheaper foreign talents ?

However we still don’t understand why SM Goh is so worried about our economy going into recession which will lead to the massive retrenchment he so crave for:

The Presidential race was called for Barack Obama at 11p.m. on the East Coast, 8p.m. on the West. An hour later he was on stage at Grant Park in Chicago, speaking to the tens of thousands of supporters gathered there.

I had a bit of goose pimples listening to BBC's broadcast of this all-encompassing and wizardry "rallying call" at lunchtime. Civil rights leader Rev Jesse Jackson stood there with pride. Oprah Winfrey was reportedly moved to tears. The better candidate prevailed and it's African-American Camelot, indeed! Let's hope this candle will burn for the entire 4-year term.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It's the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he's fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation's promise in the months ahead.

I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on that train home to Delaware, the Vice President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.

I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nation's next First Lady, Michelle Obama.. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House. And while she's no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics - you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you've sacrificed to get it done.

But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to - it belongs to you.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn't start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington - it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.

It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory.

I know you didn't do this just to win an election and I know you didn't do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime - two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they'll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor's bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you - we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can't solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it's been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years - block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek - it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers - in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House - a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, "We are not enemies, but friends...though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection." And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn - I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world - our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down - we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security - we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright - tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America - that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that's on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She's a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing - Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.

She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons - because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America - the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can't, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.

At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.

When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.

She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that "We Shall Overcome." Yes we can.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves - if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes We Can.

Obama Wins eletoral votes 338 to McCain's 141 ..Obama is the new prez!!

Barack Obama swept to victory as the nation's first black president Tuesday night in an electoral college landslide that overcame racial barriers as old as America itself. "Change has come," he told a jubilant hometown Chicago crowd estimated at nearly a quarter-million people.

The son of a black father from Kenya and a white mother from Kansas, the Democratic senator from Illinois sealed his historic triumph by defeating Republican Sen. John McCain in a string of wins in hard-fought battleground states — Ohio, Florida, Iowa and more. He captured Virginia and Indiana, too, the first candidate of his party in 44 years to win either.

Obama's election capped a meteoric rise — from mere state senator to president-elect in four years.

Spontaneous celebrations erupted from Atlanta to New York and Philadelphia as word of Obama's victory spread. A big crowd filled Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House.

In his first speech as victor, to an enormous throng at Grant Park in Chicago, Obama catalogued the challenges ahead. "The greatest of a lifetime," he said, "two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century."

He added, "There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president, and we know that government can't solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face."

McCain called his former rival to concede defeat — and the end of his own 10-year quest for the White House. "The American people have spoken, and spoken clearly," McCain told disappointed supporters in Arizona.

President Bush added his congratulations from the White House, where his tenure runs out on Jan. 20. "May God bless whoever wins tonight," he had told dinner guests earlier.

Obama, in his speech, invoked the words of Lincoln, recalled Martin Luther King Jr., and seemed to echo John F. Kennedy.

"So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder," he said.

He and his running mate, Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, will take their oaths of office as president and vice president on Jan. 20, 2009. McCain remains in the Senate.

Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, returns to Alaska as governor after a tumultuous debut on the national stage.

He will move into the Oval Office as leader of a country that is almost certainly in recession, and fighting two long wars, one in Iraq, the other in Afghanistan.

The popular vote was close — 51.7 percent to 47 percent with 84 percent of all U.S. precincts tallied — but not the count in the Electoral College, where it mattered most.

There, Obama's audacious decision to contest McCain in states that hadn't gone Democratic in years paid rich dividends.

Shortly after 2 a.m. the East, The Associated Press count showed Obama with 349 electoral votes, well over the 270 needed for victory. McCain had 144 after winning states that comprised the normal Republican base, including Texas and most of the South.

Interviews with voters suggested that almost six in 10 women were backing Obama nationwide, while men leaned his way by a narrow margin. Just over half of whites supported McCain, giving him a slim advantage in a group that Bush carried overwhelmingly in 2004.

The results of the AP survey were based on a preliminary partial sample of nearly 10,000 voters in Election Day polls and in telephone interviews over the past week for early voters. Obama has said his first order of presidential business will be to tackle the economy. He has also pledged to withdraw most U.S. combat troops from Iraq within 16 months.

In Washington, the Democratic leaders of Congress celebrated.

"It is not a mandate for a party or ideology but a mandate for change," said Senate Majority leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

Said Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California: "Tonight the American people have called for a new direction. They have called for change in America."

Democrats also acclaimed Senate successes by former Gov. Mark Warner in Virginia, Rep. Tom Udall in New Mexico and Rep. Mark Udall in Colorado. All won seats left open by Republican retirements.

In New Hampshire, former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen defeated Republican Sen. John Sununu in a rematch of their 2002 race, and Sen. Elizabeth Dole fell to Democrat Kay Hagan in North Carolina.

Biden won a new term in Delaware, a seat he will resign before he is sworn in as vice president.

The Senate's Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, survived a scare in Kentucky, and in Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss hoped to avoid a December runoff.

The Democrats piled up gains in the House, as well.

They defeated seven Republican incumbents, including 22-year veteran Chris Shays in Connecticut, and picked up nine more seats where GOP lawmakers had retired.

At least three Democrats lost their seats, including Florida Rep. Tim Mahoney, turned out of office after admitting to two extramarital affairs while serving his first term in Florida. In Louisiana, Democratic Rep. Don Cazayoux lost the seat he had won in a special election six months ago.

The resurgent Democrats also elected a governor in one of the nation's traditional bellwether states when Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon won his race.

An estimated 187 million voters were registered, and in an indication of interest in the battle for the White House, 40 million or so had already voted as Election Day dawned.

Obama sought election as one of the youngest presidents, and one of the least experienced in national political affairs.

That wasn't what set the Illinois senator apart, though — neither from his rivals nor from the other men who had served as president since the nation's founding more than two centuries ago. A black man, he confronted a previously unbreakable barrier as he campaigned on twin themes of change and hope in uncertain times.

McCain, a prisoner of war during Vietnam, a generation older than his rival at 72, was making his second try for the White House, following his defeat in the battle for the GOP nomination in 2000.

A conservative, he stressed his maverick's streak. And although a Republican, he did what he could to separate himself from an unpopular president.

For the most part, the two presidential candidates and their running mates, Biden and Republican Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, spent weeks campaigning in states that went for Bush four years ago.

McCain and Obama each won contested nominations — the Democrat outdistancing former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton — and promptly set out to claim the mantle of change.

Obama won California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin.

The man in the street finds it hard to understand why electricity charges have gone up when the price of oil - to which the gas for generating power is tied - has come down.

DAZED by months of paying more for almost everything except fresh air, Singaporeans found themselves hit again — by a big increase in electricity bills.

From Oct 1 they had to pay a mind-boggling 21.89% higher power tariffs despite the collapse in the oil price, the second increase this year; in January, the rates went up by 6%.

The latest series are bound to exert inflationary pressures on the economy, which is declining along with the stock and property markets. Singaporeans are girding up for real hardship ahead.

The increase has badly affected middle-class Singaporeans, who are baffled by it. It couldn’t have come at a worse time. Yesterday, the city state entered a recession, after six years of growth.

A pall of gloom has descended. Over the past few days, panic had gripped the market here in line with world bourses as investors dumped shares in panic.

Property is also in decline. As a result, much of the personal wealth that has taken Singaporeans years to accumulate has evaporated.

And they now find themselves with a power headache, leading people to ask: “Why a 22% increase when oil is 33% cheaper?”

For sure, it was not to alleviate losses to the state. Last year, the Temasek-owned electricity company, Singapore Power, made profits in excess of S$1bil (RM2.4bil).

To critics, it is an example of Singapore Inc sticking to the principle of state-linked enterprise striving to make maximum profits, even in a downturn.

Three government-owned power companies produce 90% of electricity here. Recently the government sold off two of them to Chinese and Japanese firms for a total of S$8bil (RM19.1bil).

Some 80% of power is produced by natural gas. The gas, imported from Indonesia, is priced under contract according to the oil market. Since the oil price has fallen from US$147 a barrel to US$88 (RM515 to RM308) in recent months, Singaporeans had expected a drop in electricity costs.

The jump appears even more unseemly vis-a-vis Hong Kong, its long-time rival frequently held up for comparison.

On Oct 1, the same day as Singapore’s increase, Hong Kong reduced its electricity costs by 3%. Even then, people there complained it fell far short of market realities.

So why the increase in Singapore? Was it a mistake by bureaucrats?

The government says there’s a perfectly good reason for the disparity. In Singapore, the tariffs are calculated from oil prices in the preceding three months. Oil was more expensive then.

Singaporeans appear baffled with the explanation, asking if Hong Kong can make its market work better, why can’t we?

Four months earlier, many Singaporeans had complained about mysterious overcharging in their electricity bills.

The electric company said it had received — and investigated — 1,093 complaints in April that the bills jumped for no apparent reason, some by 60%-113%.

The controversies followed from a strategy to privatise electricity.

Temasek Holdings recently sold off two companies — Tuas Power (in March) and Senoko Power (in September) to the Chinese and a Japanese-led consortium for about S$8bil. The third, PowerSeraya, will follow suit next year.

Irritated Singaporeans do not regard electricity as just another market product to buy and sell, but as a public service. “It is unwise for an elected government to price it for too much profit,” said a stock broker.

He queried whether the price rise was linked to the sale of the plants. “Obviously, the higher the electricity charges, the higher they can fetch on the world market,” he observed.

Admitting the ‘rather high’ charges were unsettling people, Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam promised to introduce measures in next year’s Budget to help ease the impact.

At the same time another state-controlled company, Singtel, has raised fixed-line telephone rates by S$10 (RM24) from Jan 1. Annual residential and business rates will be S$110 (RM262) and S$160 (RM380), respectively.

The technical recession — particularly the repercussion of state profits in times of crisis — will likely increase political pressure on the government.

Some observers believe that if the fallout were to result in severe hardship, it could impact the election due in two or three years’ time.

Much depends on how much the bulk of the heartland voters are affected by recession and inflation.

The ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) has won credit for Singapore’s rapid progress in the past 40 years, which turned Singapore into an advanced global city.

But when things go wrong, it will take a proportionately larger blame.

Lately, there have been calls for the government to draw on state reserves to provide relief to stricken — especially unemployed — Singaporeans, instead of investing them in Western banks with questionable returns.

In the past, such appeals had been rejected with the explanation that reserves were meant for a rainy day. The debate now is: Have the heavy rains started?

The power price rise has revisited the matter of state corporatism in times of crisis.

The Singapore government is both a provider of public services as well as — at least indirectly — a major seller of these services for the state’s coffers.

In happy times, it evokes little complaint since in contributes to substantial asset accumulation; the profits go back to Singaporeans collectively.

But in times of hardship, this role of provider-cum-seller of public services becomes hard to balance. How far should profit in state-controlled firms be allowed in times of trouble?

So far, there is no sign that any change is forthcoming, at least not until the level of public suffering hits an unbearable level.

AUD, NZD investors hit

Five-year lows of these two currencies hit S'poreans with big paper losses

INVESTORS tempted by the attractive interest rates offered for Aussie and Kiwi dollar fixed deposits are licking their wounds after the two currencies plunged to five-year lows.

Both types of fixed deposits offer generous interest rates, but they cannot cover for the dramatic loss in the value of the currencies.

One unhappy investor, who declined to be named, is sitting on a whopping $50,000 paper loss from a $200,000 Aussie dollar fixed deposit she had placed in July. That is a 25 per cent loss in just four months.

The interest rate offered was 5.765 per cent per year, almost 10 times better than the 0.6 per cent she was earning in a Singapore-denominated fixed deposit.

At the time, the Australian dollar was at a high of $1.319 to the Sing dollar. The currency fell to $1.025 to the Sing dollar late yesterday.

Now that the Australian and Singapore dollars are practically at parity, the woman, who is in her 20s, is regretting that investment.

She is holding on to the investment for as long as she can. She told The Straits Times ruefully: 'In the span of the next 20 years, hopefully the Aussie dollar will appreciate.'

Operations manager Kenneth Ang is nursing paper losses of about $8,000 on his Aussie-dollar fixed deposit.

He had put a 'large sum' of cash into a 12-month fixed deposit in a Singapore bank about eight months ago, when the Aussie was markedly stronger - trading at about $1.295 to the Sing dollar.

He said he was 'a bundle of nerves' on Wednesday when the currency fell to a six-year low of 96.17 Singapore cents, before bouncing back somewhat yesterday.

But he is not about to cash out yet.

'Thankfully, the Aussie dollar recovered the next day, and I hope it stays that way,' he said. 'I'm not going to withdraw my deposit prematurely as I don't want to fork out the penalty on top of all my losses.'

Another investor, who gave his name only as Mr Chan, has been hit by paper losses of $10,000 on his $70,000 deposit and is also planning 'to wait it out'.

Meanwhile, the Kiwi dollar fell to as low as 86.76 Singapore cents this week, down from $1.1215 a year ago.

Until this August, banks had seen steady investor interest in the fixed deposits of these two currencies. This is thanks to the relatively high rates of over 6.3 per cent for Aussie-dollar deposits and over 8.1 per cent for the New Zealand-dollar ones - a far cry from the 1 per cent on similar Singapore-dollar deposits.

These interest rates had been among the highest among medium-sized economies. The currencies' popularity was also boosted by a commodities boom, since both countries are major exporters of metals and other resources.

But now, banks say there is scant interest.

Ms Janice Poon, Standard Chartered Bank Singapore's general manager of wealth management, noted that the Australian dollar and New Zealand dollar are both likely to weaken even further against the Singapore dollar over the coming months.

That is because Australia's and New Zealand's central banks are likely to cut interest rates drastically as the global credit crisis unfolds, she explained.

Lower rates make the currencies less attractive to hold. Global investors sell them, causing them to weaken further.

Some analysts also think the currencies will drop because of weakening global demand for commodities.

In addition, experts warn that interest rates on these deposits are also likely to come down.

Earlier this week, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) set the ball rolling by cutting the benchmark interest rate Down Under by a full percentage point from 7 per cent to 6 per cent.

Mr Emmanuel Ng, OCBC Bank forex strategist, noted that 'the potential for both the RBA and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand to deliver further interest rate cuts remain a very real proposition'.

SINGAPORE has slipped into recession and the Government has revised its 2008 growth forecast to around 3 per cent from a previous estimate of 4 to 5 per cent.

The economy shrank at an annualised, seasonally adjusted rate of 6.3 per cent in the third quarter, according to third quarter advance estimates released by the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Friday morning, pushing the export-dependent economy into its first recession since 2002.

The government also revised down its 2008 growth forecast to around 3 per cent from a previous estimate of 4 to 5 per cent.

Economists had expected the Republic to narrowly escape a recession in the third quarter by growing 1.1 per cent, lifted by a slight improvement in electronics output.

A recession is often defined as two consecutive quarters of economic contractions.

The deepening financial crisis, which sparked banking crises in the United States, Iceland, Britain, Germany and Ireland, is threatening to drag the world economy into recession.

The advance estimate, based largely on July and August data, gives an early indication of the economy's performance during the July-September period.

MTI said the Singapore economy is estimated to contract by 0.5 per cent in the third quarter, than a year ago.

On a seasonally adjusted, annualised quarter-on-quarter basis, real GDP declined by 6.3 per cent, following a 5.7 per cent decline in the previous quarter.

On the outlook for the year, MTI said since the revised GDP forecast in August, 'external economic conditions have deteriorated more than expected and some sectors of the economy have weakened significantly on account of industry-specific or domestic factors.

'The worsening of the financial crisis in the US in recent weeks has deepened the credit crunch, making it more difficult for businesses to sustain economic activities. With unemployment on the rise and house prices continuing to fall, US consumer sentiment has weakened further and will affect demand for exports from Asia and the rest of the world.'

It added that Singapore's export-oriented sectors, such as manufacturing, will be affected, noting that Europe is also facing severe strains in the banking sector, tighter credit conditions, and adjustments in housing prices.

Growth in major economies such as Germany, France, Italy and the UK has dipped sharply in the second quarter.

Growth forecasts for several Asian economies, such as China, India and South Korea, have been revised downwards since the start of the year.

The estimates showed that Singapore's manufacturing sector continued to be weighed down by the negative growth in biomedical sciences, as pharmaceutical companies are still producing a mix of pharmaceutical ingredients with values lower than compared to a year ago.

The precision engineering and chemicals clusters have also slowed, because of weaker external demand.

The construction sector grew by 7.8 per cent in the third quarter, compared to the 18.3 per cent growth in the first half of 2008. Despite a strong pipeline of construction projects, a shortage of contractors, a tight labour market for engineers and project managers, and longer waiting times for equipment, have delayed the realisation of these projects.

MTI said the financial services sector is likely to see slower growth in the coming months as the ongoing global financial crisis has heightened uncertainties for sentiment-sensitive segments such as stocks trading and fund management activities.

'Taking into account the slowdown in the global economy and key domestic sectors, MTI has revised the 2008 GDP growth forecast to around 3 per cent. The inflation forecast of 6 - 7 per cent for 2008 remains unchanged,' it said.

S$1 billion profit, so electricity tariffs raised 22%

SP Services has announced that it has raised electricity tariffs 21.89% from 1 Oct to 31 Dec 2008. The Online Citizen's Leong Sze Hian has pointed out that SP Services' parent company, Singapore Power Ltd, made a profit of S$1.086 billion in 2007. I checked out their website and indeed this is true.

They made over S$1 billion in PROFITS and they are increasing tariffs by 22% ! And all this when oil prices are actually decreasing.

Of course, since it is not useful for our power companies to use the current oil prices to justify the increase, they are using the 'forward fuel oil price'. This is the price agreed between the buyer and the seller for delivery of the oil at a specified future date, in this case 3 months.

As with the Public Transport Council (PTC) and ministerial salaries, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) is using this ridiculous formula to justify price increases.

It's really shocking how the EMA has gone to the hilt to defend the price increases of the company they are supposed to regulate. But on closer examination, it's not all that surprising:

- Singapore Power made S$1 billion in 2007, much of it from Singaporeans' electricity fees.

- SP is in turn 100% owned by Temasek Holdings ( as are the two other power companies, PowerSeraya and Senoko Power ).

- Temasek Holdings is owned by the Ministry of Finance.

- EMA, the energy market regulator, is a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry ( as is the Competition Commission of Singapore, which is supposed to prevent cartel-like behavior ).

I think everyone is having a jolly good back-scratch, except us ordinary citizens.

Something is seriously amiss when a power company can make S$1 billion in profits and still raise charges by 22%. It is a classic example of the profit-driven culture that our government is run on. I really don't know how much longer Singaporeans are going to stand for this kind of nonsense.

well well..its been a really long time since i updated on ,y blog..and i would say that its partly due to work.....arghh..
So much things have changed @ work and we've got people leaving and coming in..*fRuSTrATING*...

but i shall not comment further..as they say " the walls have ears" which in this place seems really ironic isnt it...since we each have our own freedom and will to blog about our life's and daily happening but yet we still withhold on giving out too much info.. Bah...this shall be discussed in the next topic ..

The main case in point here is someone in some organisation here is looking for the happiest person in singapore....i kid you not..and my reaction when i first read it in the papers was.. " Wad the F***?"... * pardon my french* haaha.. i mean , i think u guys are too damn free to even organize such a contest..jeez weez. But then again..who am i to argue with..haha.

heh heh..well to be the happiest perosn in sinagapore, im convinced you have to be either

1. Very rich or very poor
2. Very smart or very dumb
3. Very young or very old
4. Have many children or none at all

Extremes are extremely inmportant. Because at the extremes ends of scales, you're impervious to any dictates or confines of normal society and most of the time, people alwyas part and make concessions for you and like the red sea for moses.
For instance, if you become extremely agitated and throw a tantrum, you will be served. But if you wait in line quietly in line, you'll be be doing just three things..... wait wait and bloody wait..

oh well..to each his own i guess..but for now..if you ask me who is the happiest person in singapore..i would say it has to be me =) but i guess ill be curious to fin d out who the F*** is the happiest person is in singapore.. hahhaa..

Countdown to Chinese New Year 08!!!

Cant believe that tmr is Chinese new year's eve..
so fast!!! god i really cant believe it and to make it worse, i haven't even bought any new clothes so far hahaha.

Well we shifted on friday to our new place which is at tower one. Still @ suntec area haha..but friday was really a shitty day. We had to do the trades that were coming in as usual and we also had to pack up our stuff in the office cause the knock off time for us was to be ard 530pm. The workers were coming in tomove our boxes by 4pm so you can imagine how busy we were after lunch!..it was like a mad dash ...here and there..everyone was taping ...and sticking security tags on their boxes etc etc.. kinda like G.S.S without the shopping hahhaha..

Well,by 6pm..guess wad, we were still in the office and waiting for the movers to come but no one came so we all kinda had to stay till fiona ( the Person in charge of the moving) came in to sign the forms to verify the boxes we were moving and all. So in the mean time we were trying our best to clear most of the trades that were coming in..and rather a lot might i add..its like every 5 secs i refresh the system.. * POOFF * i see like 3 or 4 new tickets waiting =(

In the end we all managed to sort of end the trades by 8pm and decided to call it a day as we managed to clear the top priority ones. That matter the most, the rest can wait till monday as the markets were already informed that Securities and transfers would be moving ..the whole Global Wealth mgmt team would be moving on fri so eerything would be halted latest by 7pm...or so they said hahha

Finally had my first chill out night with the colleagues..after a really hard day at work, it felt awesome to just sip on my heinekein and crap ard!!..not that we dont ususally crap ard at work but this time round..it wasnt at office and there was alcohol..hahah..

Went home to sleep and thats the end of another day at work..now on to the weekend!

Ben was havimg his early CNY party at his shop on sat so yeah as tired as i was after rugby in the am..i dragged my ass over to his shop hahhaa..which i didnt regret cause there was loads of good foodie!!! hahaha

The best part was he didnt really expect so many ppl to turn up! hahahha..it was pretty crowded at his shop so he made use to the space outside to accomdate the masses that just kept coming....plus he had loads of wines and alkie as gifts HAHAH so it was like free-flow for us...hahhhaha...

Mom,dad,Char and spencer were already there when i reached ...haha kinda said hi and then rushed over to the buffet spread!!! hha yum..had all sorts of food..fried rice..jap food..sushi..noodles..veggies..dumplings..fish..pork...popiah..and the list goes on and on HAHHAHAa...

Kris, the other hairstylist brought her daughter along and she's the most adorable thing i have ever seen!!! ahaha..i had the honour of being her date for the night hahha but for future dates..i have to ask her mom kris for permission hahhaa...but i kinda have to wait for like another 16 years? before i can date her HAHAHAHHAHA..

but she is really really the adorable thing to walk this earth...lucky kris..

It was really funny as they didnt have any place to wash the plates so that it can be reused so they washed it at the hair washing area.. hahha to which all of us said that we would really think twice if we ever have to wash our hair hahahha..

Honestly speaking, i think being a hairstylist allows you to have the biggest network of people. I met so many different people from different walks of life and in different fields. Of course there were quite a few models and all but they were really nice to talk too. Met a few bankers..traders..and even someone working for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra hahah..

All in all..we all have something in common..BEN..haha cause he cuts our hair..he really should be given a new title.." the Family Hairstylist" cause all the families go to him. In fact its almost the same story with the rest, my mom was the first to try him out then she brought my sis..and my sis brought me and later my dad hahha..everyone had the same story on how they got to know ben haha..

the most commomly heard and asked quesion of the night was " So did Ben cut ure hair too?" hahhah...

Post-Tournament Chillout @ Rachael's

The post-tournament chill out was held once again at Rachael's place...
I went over as soon as i could as i had to go over to Ben's Salon for an early CNY party..haha..

When i got to Rachael's place, the moment i stepped out of the lift, waves and waves of laughter and screams came into my direction hahahha..it was crazy..i thought there was some orgy going on HAHHA.. *grinzs*..

They were playing some game whereby one groups challenges the other group for one of its members by having a rep from both groups fight it out with all kinds of challenges...simple games to totally weird ones HAHAH..i got involved in challenging ahmand in the game of Chopsticks..its really mental haha..

Chups and Wan wan challenged each other with push ups and decided to end it in a draw as they were both turning red and ..we all had a tiring day after comp HAHAA..crazy times seriously!...

After that the gambling mood got the better of all of us and some played mahjong and the others played Poker: Texas Holden..hahah..i cant believe i stayed till 6ish!!!..wanted to stay over at Rachael's but decided not too as had to go somewhere with the rents on sun so decided to head home and dropped chong hsien along the way too....bloody bugger won from all of us..lucky thing that we played small.. haha i lost 14.chups lost 11 and Rachael lost 2..hahaha..man my biggest win was 4 dais!!! HAHA..chong's biggest win was 5 dais!! haha so sad..i really need to play more!!!!! to prepare of CNY..income generation day HAHAH..

it was just really great hanging out..crapping much much more HAHAHA..and most imptly...we were all having fun! HAHa..thanks again Rach for having us over!!...

Weekends just seem to FLY away...

Argh..wouldn't you know it, its back to work on mon..
weekends really seem to fly away, it seems just like yesterday that it was sat again... haha..oh well..
hmm weekend was a bit packed, had a Rugby tournament @ BLOODY changi Naval Base but it was at 130pm so had to be there by 1230 at least to warm up with the guys..the gals started at 1130am so they went earlier..
Kinda forgot how far the damn base was, and took me like ard half an hour to get there. Last time i went there was when i was still in the army =P

It was such a freakin hot day..haha Nat msg me to bring an igloo or at leat buckets of ice!!!..i mean whaddya expect when you play at that time -grinzs-. Well i managed to get there ard 1pm, just in time to have a quick warm up with the guys and decide who was gonna start first, turns out i had to start first hahhaa...
Crazy match..first one was against RP..and we scored first but they managed to tie and win the game in the last min so yeah..but it was our first match. Guess the guys werent warmed up yet. We did managed to tie our second and win our third match to come in overall 3rd!! So yeah...i gotta say we did pretty well as a new team!.

Our medals for the day were sunburnt faces...arms..legs...cuts..brusies and loads of blood was spilt hahah. I had the skin on my right knee cap kinda like skinned off..so yeah it was pretty gross!! hahaha... thats wad rugby is all about...No pain no Glory ..no GUts! HAHAHAAAAHA..but it was all worth it. Cheering the girls on..the girls cheering us on..Hanging out..messing ard..taking shit loads of pictures..its what camaraderie is all about. Our Team is a Living Proof and model example.!!! i'm gonna miss you guys now that competitions are over and we'll be taking a break due to work commitments..sch and exams..but we'll def hang out once in a while!!!

Poor Rod cldnt play as he had popped his knee like a week before the competition @ training...bummed out...but still he came and supported us even thought the event was at Changi Naval Base! Thats what i called commitment man!!!..he even helped us take pics...provided the gals shelter from the shade from his wheelchair AHHAHAHA...3 Cheers to ROd. hahhaa..

But for now, we have the pics to remind us of what a crazy time we had !!! hahaha..

*grinz* basically it was Zarah's last night in singy literally b4 flying back to melbourne...and it was kevin's first night back in singy from Switzerland ..so u see my situation *grinz* as weill as keiran's first night back too from tasmania.. im glad that my mate are back and sad to see the others go as i wasnt able to spend time with most of them due to my work schedule!

Wasnt able to see zarah for the whole week that she was here cause i had work and ended last almost each day thus making it hard to plan anything. ...but the Good lord has been kind to me and thus enabling me to meet up with all of them on sat night! haha! We went to bungy bar @ clarke Quay,near the bungy thingy...and i wanted to test out my New Canon 400D DSLR camera..so yeah..!!! haha seemed like a good oppourtunity..haha..and i found out that zarah just got one too!!! plus hers was cheaper cause she got it outside singy!! hahah so the whole night was spent comparing notes and yes of course photo whoring away...with the new cameras..hence the shit loads of pictures..but i shall spare you all and only upload the nice ones ....man the images on my new baby is so damn good!!! makes everyone look good! i tried taking a few marco shots..which i thought turned out pretty nice!!

Headed over to China One after we were done with drinks at bungy bar...it was like Wala wala and Acid bar combined!! ..huge and freakin LOUD!!! The resident band was great!!!..with the smashing drums...electriflying guitar stokers and the singer screaming his lungs out...got the crowd really worked up..hmm whcih would explain why i got my beer smashed ... =( hahhahaha..

Well its that time of the year..
everyone has to go back to school..for UK and canada peepz...
Eva decided to hold a gathering @ acid bar..haha since i inducted her to the place last year. She fell in love with the place too =) Niceness!!
It was just another same ole busy day @ work....kinda ended a tad earlier so decided to call eugene and nirmal for dinner @ our fav place. 5 Star Chicken rice @ river valley road....I hate eugene haha cause he lives like bloddy ten mins away from that place hahhaa..bastard! haha..oh well.at least i park at his place most of the time and walk to town. It really does save u a ton on parking!!! and all that shit.... =P

We had the usual, chicken, veg,prawns and tofu..which was really quite a lot judging that only three of us were eating and we all could eat a lot hahah..Kinda STUFFED at the end but contented in the belly.. *grinzs*

Still had time to kill cause eva was only gonna be at acid bar round 9ish so we decided to walk back to eugene's place, i needed to park my car there too since emerald hill was definitely gonna be packed. We decided to check out euegene's condo gym and ended up messing ard hahaha..amazingly, no one got hurt and no property was damaged !! or at least thats what we'd like you to think hahahhahah...

ITS NOT MY FAULT..its a friday night..people are bound to bump into each other hahha *grinz*..the funny thing was i only realizesd that junyi and shirley were there when i reviewed the pics i took..lo and behold..there they were in the background of the pic of diane,Eva,me and eugene hahah hilarious i tell you..

The music was fantastic and Charlene (singer) and Fatt ( guitarist) brought the house down with rockin hits after hits..everyone was raising their glasses and cheering then on... a Great way to start the weekend after a tough week at work..Nice!!

Wont be seeing eva till end of the year cause she wont be coming down in june...she's gonna go back to sweden with her sis so yeah.. =(...pity that..haha
but we did shit loads of stuff over the last week..met like literally every day during
her last week !!! hahaa went ktving...played pool..god knows what else we did..haha

i love that place, its like my new chill out place for this year..
U guys should go check it out if u havent been there. Its an awesome chill out place with live acoustic music and great vocals from the singer..
i highly reccomend tue nights and friday!! the group performing on these nights are AwesOme!!!...
from oldies to rockin new hits...which they have taken in and toned it down so its super easy for listening..and for the soul too..
so if u've had a hard day at work..this is the place to chill...
The foody and drinks are a plus too,if i rem its 1-for-1 on tues till 9pm. haha so yeah..

I know its like a bit late to say it but HAPPY NEW YEAR every one!!
so im like 8 days late..SUE mE ! hahahha
Well i hope that everyone had a fantastic new year's eve and on new year's day too..
It's a new year people so, let's forget any feud that we may have and lets all be friends..to err is human and thus to forgive is to forget...so lets us all leave any unhappiness that we might have had in 2007...Put it way way back and lets all start anew in this new year!...

Everyone gets a second chance in life....for some, a third or forth i guess haha if ure really screwed up *grinzS* but its a new year so yeah..screw all that hahha..

I had a pretty good new year's eve..haha..pretty funny too...considering what happened later as the night processed on. Dinner was with the cousins and we had it at Pontini at Grand Copthorne so you can prob imagine where i would have ended up after dinner hahha.. No prizes for guessing though haha.. Well dinner was pretty ok..five course frenchy meal..ha ha..pretty ok i guess.

After dinner, we all headed down to velvet..and i must say that this year's countdown was really well controlled..as in crowd control wise. There were tons of people queening outside velvet but when we got in, it was pretty much empty. hahah..but yeah..it was better for us i guess..so the countdown came and went..champagne were popping off at every corner of velvet..haha it was a champagne buffet...hahaha..
We were all photo whoring again..hahaha...but i had to leave as i had to attend a mate's bday celebration at Sky lounge at Mos so off i went and i really regretted that haha..

Mos was so freaking packed!!! to the brim...it was pretty smooth for members to get in but once u were insdie..the Nightmare begin ed. It was so packed that people were queening up to get into the RnB section SMOOVE...and that guys toilet had to have a bouncer inside to seperate the crowd so that people cldnt get into smoove through the toilets..maddness....i wished louie a happy bday and then i was off,wanted to get the hell outta of clark quay but lo and behold..there wasnt a TAXI in sight..and shit loads of people queening up greeted me as i went to the road. It was chaos!!..in the end..the guys and i decided to walk all the way to Spice @ river valley where we proceeded to consume our first meal of the year. CHICKEN AND CHEESE MURTABAK!!! haha with a big tall glass of Bundung! Suddap yah!!! hahahha..

And in the end, after countless of wrong orders..we eventually managed to get our foo and eat. Thus ending the night and welcoming us unto the first day of 2008. We were done at 545am and by the time we got a cab and reached home. It was already 630am... hahhaha... so it was indeed a happy and memorable new year for all of us..as the thing that mattered the most was, my mates were with me as we endured the events that took place that night!!..as they say..its only gonna get better as the year goes on!...

Im just waiting for what 2008 has in store for me and i wish each and everyone of you a happy new year and may it be a truely great year ahead for you!

Its another Christmas and it tends to outdo the past Christmas..so tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la la la la la..

Dont know about you guys but this christmas, im gonna take it nice and slow. Dinner with the family..church and then we'll see what happens after. Theres too many invites to people's houses for christmas and there's only one of me so hahaha..

Omg..haha
well here i am still alive and kicking so as you can see, i SURVIVED hahaha..
The marathon was last sun but yeah..i was so tired and aching the whole week that i just could not be bothered to write, and plus the fact that i tried to go rugby training on thurs. Lets just say it wasn't a great idea of mine. =(

Was suppose to sleep early on Sat night, before the race but i wanted to go to Muse @ National museum for a friend's event so ended up sleeping ard like one plus and woke up at ard 4 something?..man..never again will i stay out the night b4 a big race. Hahaha..

Well john and i left ard 4 plus and headed to Mac's to load up on carbs!..noting does it quite well like a Mac's Breakkie. We had double sausage Macmuffin withe egg..MAn..that does Hit the spot.haha..and we were like eating while driving to suntec. It's like i received so many msg from my friends all wishing me good luck and then they added .." eh..ure missing out on the partyin @ zouk.its Dave seaman" hahhaha thanks guys!! hahaha..with friends like these..who need enemies ay? *grinzs*

Well it was a really guresome race..lets just say im so glad it's over ..and happy that i managed to acheive something like this...the scenery is really something to see when you're running along the route...yes it might have been far and long but it was worth every gut winching pain that i had to endure with each step i took...

i remember as i hit the 30k mark..man..it was just mind games all the way..
at first i thought i could get by ..with just focusing my sight on the road ..blocking out everything else..that sought of worked for a while then the pain kicked in..WHoa...man...worst than anything i've ever experienced. -_-''''''

but seriously..its best to run this with a mate or a group cause i dont think i can do this alone..seriously. John broke away from the pack ard the 25k but i managed to pick up the pace and caught up with him and it was just us two pushing each other all the way to the finish line..man..we were just talking to each other and pushing each other all the way..

CraZy stuff man...*sigh*
but at the end of it all, when u see that finish line coming in sight, and with hundreds of people cheering u on towards the finishing line, it's so worth it..some of the supporters or runspirators as they are called..came and ran beside me for the last 1k..haha..appreciate their support..

End of the day..its about self-commitment and get through it in the end..
I may have gotten the medal..but the most impt thing is ...i pushed myself to the max..to a place where i never knew i could reach..and thats really priceless..
knowing that the human mind can be pushed to such great depths..

it just seems like yesterday that i was hanging out with Stephan,Gideon,Char,Spencer and the rest of the peepz at Wala-wala's...we were laughing like mad,drinking merrily and poking fun at each other, daring each other to go on stage to sing with Sherlyn, resident band at Wala-wala's...this was back in 2001...

but it pains me even more that we wont be hearing him laugh, flexing his big muscles or making fun of his brother Gideon any the next gathering...but we'll always remember and his laughter will always be etched in our hearts.

It hasn't really sunk in yet..to many of us..his friends that he is gone. Everyone is still in a daze. *sigh*...somehow the term " Life is short,play hard" seems to leave a hard impact in my life. It really takes a moment like this to hit you right in the face , telling you that how fragile life really is....

God gave us life..God gave us the strength to overcome all obstacles..God yet has the power to take it all away...

What was once peaceful has now been broken...
Somehow, our lives have all been affected and things will never be the same as they used to be.

friday was indeed a shocker, news reached us regarding the incident that took place while they were rowing back to shore, a wave had caused the dragon boat to collide into a pontoon and causing the dragon boat to capsized...the underwater currents were strong and being dragonboaters.. it was a struggle to swim back to the surface. We got news from gideon that his brother was missing on fri ard night time..
Char and i knew he'd be fine, as we didnt know the full story ..but we prayed for the whole team's safety..then sunday came, we went over to gid's place in the late morning to give him support and encouragement, we started talking about how stephan was such a joker and clown..it kinda helped everyone to laugh and not think about it..then his dad called at noon from Cambodia,

dont think i wanna blog abt this part..its just too hard to even write about it without shedding tears...
Stephan...i just want you to know that you made an impact in everyone's lives, not only mine...to your students- you were the best teacher they ever had...to your family- the filial son..to the National Dragon Boat team - you were inspirational ..To the NIE - you were the best ..and to us your friends - You will always be remembered for the passion that you have for everything that you did in life and you've inspired us all. You'll always be remembered in our hearts and mind. I hope and i know that you are in a better place now, God has welcomed you back home...we love you always..

Another night out with the cousins and this time with junie's friends as well
billy,chi anh and others joined us for a night out at zouk..and i managed to get cons to come down and meet me before going to des's bday celebration at middle road.

As i always say..the more the merrier hahahha...
And as usual we were all photo whoring again..*grinz*...
it kinda started raining so we were all stuck at winebar, which wasnt a bad thing hahah

We went to juice magazine's 9th aniversary first but it was pretty bad..
There was suppose to be free flow of drinks and the event was suppose to have started at 830 and end at 11ish but we got there ard 930 and they were already out of drinks..
i was like " can i have a..." before i could finish, the bartender cut me off " SOrry no more" haha and i turned around and walked right out and headed to winebar..
crapy man.. hahaha..apparently we were amongst the 740 people that got the VIP invite but no use in the end haha.

Since it was raining and zouk was starting to get packed with the kids..so we decided to hang out at winebar till further notice....
u got good friends....loads of drinks..cant go anywhere else so u make the most out of every situation haha ..we had a blast..
Lets just say we were the loudest group there hahah.and people envied us Hahaha.
And not to mention that it was a weird night..it seems that everyone seemed to be in a makeout mood HAHAHA..like Wth?

We somehow did go into zouk for a bit and it was packed..( like wads new) but i didnt stay long as it was des's bday so cons and i had to go..while the others went over to mos. hahah..

It was the start of a great weekend!..as like everyone was a bit seh already..bday boy des was running away from me and the others were damn glad to see me cause they were counting on me to kill off des hahhha..so cons and i did our part, we bought him each a flaming lambo..and he bought us bought one...so it was us 3 A.A's hahhaa..

hongyi was like already high hahah..
The best part was we all ended up taking turns to play pool..while highly intoxicated..brillant hahha..lets just say we all left happily drunk and des had to puke. Mission accomplish hahah. It started to rain again while we leaving ..oh well
all good things had to come to an end..it was the perfect ending haha..

Finally got back to wakeboarding after like a damn year so i was a noob all over again
i can tell u one thing for sure..wakeboarding is addictive..once u get up, u wanna do it all over again and again..

accepted the invite by chin-a-ling-a-ding ( chinying) hahhahaha..and we met up at outram interchange ard 920am..i had to wake up like early?...hahhahaha.
The sun was super hot..there was a strong breeze ...it was gonna be a great day!!

Chin is good...she did a couple of surface tricks..powerslide..etc..etc..couple of jumps too..and soon after it was my turn..haha totally forgot how to do everything but it all came back to me after i smashed into the waves at the first try hahahha..

Had loads of fun...and well..we both just ended up really shagged at the end of the day. Both slumped on the couch while waiting for the shuttle bus to come..whoopeeee!!!

and the plus factor is that ill get to see amanda again..SHE HOT Lah hahahha

yes yes..i know im lagging behind hahhaha
not my fault, been pretty busy so yeah..

All i remember from that night was that we were standing all the time
in powerhouse and that i rem facing the wall for most of the time there haha.
while drinking my Heineken hahah..

It was so shit packed to the brim and it didnt really help that our table was like
beside the Dj console and it was like a pathway for ppl to walk through so as you can see, it gets pretty annoying ...grrrr.

but despite that, it was really great to see the lengkunster and lengkunies once again
its been so long since we all met up to club! haha the only person missing was Jac!!!!
next time, im so dragging u!!!! and No is not an acceptable answer! hahaha.

Well we still managed to have a good time, there was like space for a good 20 mins b4 the it got packed again. haha..and yes we were photo-whoring again as usual *grinz*
We all left like ard one plus and went to bellini room but it was shit packed as well and we were just hanging outside of bellini room and just joking abt and stuff ..hahaha so the night ended with us having supper at Spice...

and not to mention that Joe was being REALLY NOT NORMAL that night HAHAHAHHAHA

Met up with my cousins, Charmaine,Myra and Ollie. Kinda like went there ard midnight cause was pretty held up earlier on in the evening and all. Everyone was like already high or soon to be hhhaa..

It's actually my first time to thumper and all and it was good to see familiar faces there. As in the bouncers and door staff cause they used to work at the now defunct Chinablack then. So it was pretty good catchin up with all of them and its nice to knw that they still remembered me haha considering that i was there with the cousins and family like 3-4 times a week! hahah we spend a bomb there man..cRazy shit hahah...

Made quite a few friends that nite, so it was pretty cool guess when ure under the influence of alcohol ..u become REAL friendly HAHAHA..

Futsal Competition

Seriouslcldnt sleep the whole damn night cause i was so excited bout the competition later on in the day hahahha...dun think i slept that much cause i got up at 1130? hahaha.

met the others in sch for lunch and to talk through our tactics which were all for naught...hahaha..the damn court turned out to be like a quarter of the actual futsal court..hahha like WTF?..all u needed was to take one two steps on the court and just shoot..it was like free for all hahaha..

Had scores like 10-8 , 15-10 and 8-4 coming up on the score board hahah...
we lost two and won one..so yeah..overall third in our grp so didnt make it for the group play offs...but it was all in good fun..considering that we didnt play previously before hahaha..

The team consisted of Sunny ( Thai) Zhao BIng ( China) Me ( Sin) Ryan (Sin) and Ohm ( Thai)..Gilbert was our solo superstar but due to his uncle passing away over the weekend,he cldnt make it. My sincerest heartfelt condolences bro!.....our mini UN team from hell hahah created to stike fear onto our oppenents..haha but apparently our group was the group of death..the other teams were damn good..had this Iranian guy who is like super Flexible..makes a damn yoga instructor look like a stiff mortiff hahahaa...he was executing low bicycle kicks...volleys...half volleys and all those fancy footwork..
i asked him to join the school team as we needed more people for IVP in jan..and he told me he has a knee prob..im like " RIGGGGHHHHHHTTTT" and i have arthritides and i have to use a walking stick...hahhahaha

All in all..it was a great time for everyone..the turn out was huge!..so yeah..

sianz sianz...anyway i had to get a new phone..so went down west mall which had the nearest singtel shop and got a nokia 6300 which really suits me. its sleek.slim and classic..simple to use to..slimness is the main factor haha..

was deciding btw a Htc and nokia, Sony or motorola ..but the v8 wasnt out yet so ..and htc was ard 400+++..sigh..getting a new phone isnt easy too huh haha.

HAHHA..
FINALLY got to meet up with majority of the lengkunz..but we were missing eddie and jac..haha brother and sister ah! hahaha *grinz*
It's been so long since i last saw the whole gang..except for joe,eddie and ruifang which i met like the other time hhahaa...

Lets just hope that we don't have to take like another month to meet up again haha.
It was really good to see everyone again haha it was even better to hear their voices again haha..like jenny..reena's " na ni" and jo's new line " slap ure face" wth? hahhahaa..GPK is always a GPK hahhaa cant argue with that ah ! HAHAHA. =P

Since i was done the earliest, decided to head on down to vivo to shop ard a bit and wait for reena to end work cuase she was ending ard 630.Bought a few stuff from zara's haha but i haven't really done any proper shopping so i shall looksee looksee the next couple of days haha..Ruifang came and joined us ard 640pm and the three of us decided to head over to coffeebean to munch a bit and gossip hahaaa...heh heh.. ah fang ah hahahhaa.. *secret* hahhaaa..

Had dinner at marche's and its like now everyone talks about work..haha hard to imagine just 4 mths ago while we were all struggling for exams ..all we could discuss was.. do you have this paper and that paper...i need to photocopy this and that hahhaa..and all those investment formulas..complain bout ime and stuff like that..haha how things have changed..i wont be surprised if the next time we'd be talking bout the stock exchange and all that stuff..argghh..scary...
wont be as fun as the old times hahaha..

Oh well..like what we've learnt.. " The only thing constant in life is Change" ...so adapt we must to our new environments and all but we must also rem to remain true to ourselves...

After that delicious dinner, stuffed with rosties...calamaris,mushrooms,potatoes and pizzas...headed over to peppermint park to have a few beers and chill out as well as catch up on old times... =)...took loads of crazy pics..somethings will never change hahahha.. we had ju-on gracing some shots a.k.a josephine with bad hair day hahahhahaa...

Man..this really sucks!!!..its been pouring day after day, i mean well if ure comparing this rainy weather to the super hot days, i'd definitely prefer the rainy days but too its way too much rain!..i want to exercise but cant go out and do it cause of the damn rain. *sigh* Trainings been canceled for quite a bit.. Bah!!!

On a lighter note, i am looking forward to Watching The Simpson's tonight hahhaha, catching in at cine with Alena and Faisal and then probably gonna hit the clubs later tonight with Hongyi and Constantine..though it hasn't been really confirmed yet but guess i'll play it by the ear of something =). And tomorrow..HAHAHHA. WootZ..I've got a date with Mr Potter himself..FINALLY!...gonna watch it with hongyi and chi yan ard 950pm...cant wait cant wait. Ooooo the excitement! =)

I just hope that the weather gets a bit better over the next few days cause i've gotta start training soon for the Sheares Bridge run as well as start slowly training for the New Balance Real Run and of course the Standard Chart Marathon. Man...training gives me such an adrenaline, don't really know how to express the feeling of pushing yourself and mind to the above and beyond the max!..
Its just simply exhilarating!!...and after you complete the event, you get the sense of achievement that stays with you forever!

So please.!!!...rain rain go away come again another day =)

Hope the others have sorted out their weekend plans?..its friday again!..so damn fast,where do the hours go to?..i really wonder. not that it means anything to me but yeah im just glad its a friday hahha.
it means tmr is the weekend..hahahhha..and knowing me, ill prob be at home watching heroes hahaha..im almost done with this season.

haven't really done much this week, had to go school to meet up with jean for the the trial game of the national mgmt comp in school..and i figured we didnt really uncover much except for the fact that we were able to reduce our negative earnings hahah through trial and error.. *grinz*..

Went to Hong yi's investment lect last night, which was taught by none other than mr Mok...Singapore's very own Peter Russell...hahhahhhaa..as usual, there were some recycled materials he used, but there were some original new materials hahaha..hasnt really started on his poker card debut yet so im gonna wait and see. Once a joker always a joker..gotta hand it to him ...

and yes..i've finally ridden the newly built escalators..i figured i'd get my money's worth hahahahhaa...went for rugby training yest..lets just say it was really muddy and messy hahah cause it bloody rained the whole of yest morning...

hahahha...
first of all..would like to say sorry to everyone, especially those that i haven't had the time to catch up and all, seems i have been missing out on the clubbing scene,the dinners, get togethers and movies..really sorry bout that.

Got back from Beijing and HK like a week ago and had loads of stuff to do...had to follow up with email replies for interviews and all so yeah, plus the parents have been really busy with their travelling and stuff..so had to pull my weight and had loads of errands to do, to the embassies, offices etc...in fact they just got back from their friend's 4 day wedding event over the weekend, and dad's like leaving for dubai soon, cause i just picked up his visa, and mom's going hk again..haha..

its been a really crazy time im going through with trying to find work, planning out the best schedule to fit work and school in..*sigh* ...really weighs you down, then have like your friends who have been having some r/s problems so u gotta be there for them so yeah..hahaha..but at least all these have been keeping my busy from thinking about my own problems...so yeah. Eventually ill get back on track.. =)

Well..got another week left before i know the outcome of my interview with DBS that i went for while i was in Hk so..*crosses fingers*..lets just wait and see..meanwhile just got involved with this National management competition in sch hahaha..thanks to GEANNIE!!..ahhaa but its cool..first prize is 3000!..wow!..lets Go for gold! hahaha.and pray that we dont fuck up too badly along the way yeah? *grinzS*...

hmmm wad else had happened?..loads of friends bday..Jc schoolmate's wedding to attend...Sec school reunion..... sis bday just passed..yada yada...just rearranged my whole room, shifted my bed and cupboards..nearly got killed cause the cupboards collapsed..nice...hahaha..but it wasnt my time cause i've got loads of people to irritate and piss off so ..im not done yet!! not by a long shot!!!!....

Aren't we fortunate to be living in sunny ( bloody 90% of the time) singapore?
Was chatting with debz a while ago on msn and i found out from her that its really quite scary over there. I mean yeah,...we all read the newspapers and watch tv and stuff somehow the reality only sets in for most if us only when we've spoken to someone who's actually been in that situation.

The only weather element that Spore has WAY too much off is the sunny weather..Im not saying its not a good thing, hell yeah..compared to typhoons,earthquakes,hailstorm,tsunami..etc..etc..i think i would rather prefer the Sun..then again, a little snow wouldn't hurt at all now would it hahaha.. =)

But whatever the thing is..im just gonna say a prayer for all those homeless and those who have lost their lives...the world weather is changing right before our eyes...and unless the environment agencies around the world do something about it..by the time of our future generations...they might be the ones suffering for it...

I guess everyone can do their part and should start doing their civic duty now...
together we can save the planet..hahhaa

Hahaha.. Ok ok..im really sorry for my absence and all. Not that i think it would affect like everyone's life and all but what the hey... -grinz-..
hmm think its been almost a month since i last blogged and stuff so guess im gonna have to make use of my superb summary skill to sum up what's the low down and all and i can only think of one word to sum it up " SLAVERY" hahaha.. been doing some chores and some other stuff for the rents..cause they are away..actually coming back today and then going off end of the week i think ?..no idea either...

Latest events that took place would be attending Stuff magazine's 3rd anniversary at zouk which well..wasnt that great..cause they started late and all haha but at least there was the free drinks. Guess that kinda made up for it.

Managed to catch Pirates on sat with my sis and some friends, watched it at vivocity goldclass..which really rocks i must say..man..i swear u can fall asleep on that thing..so blooming comfortable. =)..hmm so far i did managed to catch some of the movies that i wanted to watch..haha Wild hogs really was good!..From the start to the end..u'd be kept laughing all the way.. "Blades of Glory" was equally funny..my main man will ferrell does justice to the show as he always does..!hahhahahaa..
Cant wait to catch..transformers..harry potter..ocean 13..fantastic 4...and loads more ...its a movie mania i've embarked on..

Times really flies as we all know it..and its bloody june already..=(..we all know what that means so lets just all keep our fingers crossed and for some people..might wanna keep their toes and fingers crossed too.

im seriously falling apart hahha...just recently on sun i had to pull out my damn wisdom tooth and im still tasting blood in my mouth cause it was a damn big wisdom tooth..as jo said previously...haha im surprised im still alive and standing *grinz*...

and guess wad today i had to do to the doctor's to pull out my damn earring cause apparently it sank into my damn earlobe as i had forgotten to remove it..and guess wad, it sank in like err a few weeks ago n i only went to the doc's today. Brillant ...haha...and yes there was a lot of blood and pain but i endured. hhaha..even my family doc went " wah u can tanhan ah?" hahha..

well the worst is over and im resting at home now...shessh..bleeding from two holes..haha one in my mouth and one in my ear.what else man..wad else haha..
and dont worry jo. i wont be removing anything else from my body hahahahhha..although u cracked me up when i read ure sms hahahah..i was driving at that time..not very smart thing to do hahahahhaha..

Its been errr two days since i yanked my damn wisdom tooth out n im still tasting blood ... =P.

haha..the whole thing started on sat. Felt a bit pain in the afternoon but didnt really think much abt it so just carried on with what i had planned that day. Went to catch spiderman 3 with my friend Eva, was a tad disappointed with the movie,being a marvel enthusiast since i was a kid, so had a really mixed feeling while i was watching the movie. Certain parts were a tad cheesy and certain parts a bit blur...but then again its a hollywood movie, its supposed to entertain u..so yeah..wadever.

After sending eva back, went on down to fashion bar to have a drink with hong yi n caught up with jissica while i was there. Stayed there for a bit then headed back ard 2am, was feeling kinda tired and its mother's day the next day so yeah. Was getting up to make breakkie for mom so yeah. Went to bed ard 3? and the pain just hit me really raelly badly ard 330..wow!..it was like someone pushing a pin in ure damn head..and just constantly pressing it..argghh..i literally Did not sleep a single wink that night..i laid awake as every min passed by and watched as the sun's ray slowly began to brighten up every inch of my room. Not very fun!..and taking panadols or painkillers didnt do shit..

decided to bear with it and made mom breakkie with sis's help n then took some muscle relaxation pills that my sis had. Felt much better, but decided to go see a dentist, and made an appt at the general hospital...i cldnt take it anymore,just wanted to get the damn thing out. Went to grandma's place to spend mother's day with her and mom and waited till the nurse called back to confirm my appt around 6pm. So yeah wend back to get some sleep, which i desperately needed and then woke up later n headed over.

What a relief i had when the doc told me that i didnt have to do a root canal..cause it was my wisdom tooth that was causing the pain and all..so i had to pull it out..felt much better hearing that. I've never done root canal before but hearing my folks rave abt the drilling part kinda turns me off at the mere mention of "root canal" hahah...yes im a wimp when its come to dentist..hahah..

Man..u should have seen the size of that BiATch of a tooth..it was huge lah..no wonder i can still taste blood everynoe and done..its quite a huge hole i have right at the back ..oh well, it shld head by end of the week, so just gonna bear with tasting blood for now..*grinz*

Less than 24 hours ago..i was studying like mad at King albert park mac's with ming di and asher for the I.M.E paper in the afternoon..despite pulling an all nighter with jian ming till 5ish in the am..we still carried on the next day..

3 really great things happened yesterday..

The first was hearing the examiner's booming voice over the mike telling us " the time is 230..u may begin writing" and flipping over the exam paper and seeing what i really wanted to see.....it was the best paper ever hahahhahahah...though the second part of question 1b did leave us stumped hahahha...cause the damn interest rate was the same..so yeah...bit of a nutter that one.but everyone had the same so yeah hahha..

The second was DOTA session with bert,debbs,leo,winston,clarence,shuan,jonathan and the others at I.R.C game room...at beauty world. Awesomeeee...im just glad to know despite not having played for 3 months..i still got it hahahaha....best game score i ever had yesterday...overall second with 9 kills and 4 deaths..hahahhaha..i love zeus!hahhahaha...and playing it again only got me back to my addiction to dotaing hahaha..

The third and the best was having the lengkuns there to countdown to my bday last night at St James.. i couldn't have ask for any more better friends to spend it with then u guys. I simple love u guys to the core!!!!...and i cant imagine what life be it in school or outside would be like if i didnt have friendship...The best presents i received last night was seeing u guys last night and we all had a uber massive fun champagne party last night hahhhaa...Thanks so much for adding so much more meaning to the existence of my life and i can hope that our friendship will last through this lifetime!....The best is yet to be...and i kid u not...

i really enjoyed the cake u guys got and the presents!...so once again thanks joe,max,eddie,jo,jeeny,susan( who came dwn esp for me),jac ( even though u WERENT THERE~!!),reena and rui fang and the others who were there to help me celebrate...got to know more people last night hahah..

It was the weekend for some..and it was the weekend for OTHERS ...
same weekend but it was spent differently from the usual..*sigH*..
Went back to school on sat to study with jonathan for out damn investment paper..must admit it was a really nice sat, very well spent might i add, *grinz*...basically the morning started off really well..had an awesome breakfast with jon and then we proceeded to have our daily post breakfast fag outside megabytes which somehow ended up with us chain smoking..haha 3 sticks at a go..and just basically all stretched out on the chairs in the nice corner and crapping away hahaha... it was just great!..what could be more better than have a good talk..well more towards crapping away but nevertheless..it was a good chat we had going hahah...

started officially studying slightly before noon and we were at it till library closed at 5. Ming di, susan,ting ting and eunice came to join us in school too..the look on everyone's face...u can tell how stressed we each were. James Kuan was right when he said to us in our first second sem that our faces would just change totally in the final sem..haha and true enough ...all our faces have changed totally..haha all smiling less, with the exception of me haha but thats a different case, cause i smile because i have no idea what the hell is going on so yeah..moving on hahahha...

We parted ways after our post studying fag at the carpark,haha..*grinz* i went back to watch dvd to unwind..and went back to studying at 9pm. Headed on down to Nus to study,and susan, ting ting and eunice tagged along. Had to drive out twice to guide them in cause i didnt know how to explain the building that we were studying at..it was at science drive 1 but i doubt that even if i told them where it was..they'll prob still get lost hahahha...so to save time, i just drove out to meet them and drove back hahaha... Joe,eddie and max were at the biz building , didnt know where it was so didnt want to waste time finding them..but we all met up for supper ard 230ish at fong seng's ...ting n i had our highly sought after nasi lemak and the others had prata and pattaya ..and etc..haha. Hong yi came to join us for supper to...how he survived susan's car ride..is something ill never know hahaha...cant believe susan doesnt know wad a yellow box is for.. -_-'''''' HAHAHAHHAHA...ok ok..at least I HOPE U DO know now! haha -grinzs-....

OMG!...the most funniest thing just took place @ home hahahahha

Picture this...there i was washing the bathroom and well after scrubbing it nice and clean, proceeded to rinse of the suds and stuff..so yeah i decided to turn on the shower head to full blast, and u know how the showerhead is ALWAYS facing downwards right?..well...i assumed it was facing downwards and proceeded to turn the damn thing on to full blast...and somehow i looked up and to my horror, as i was HAPPILY turning the knob to full,...i looked up and saw that it was the showerhead was facing upwards and FACING me...

My brain acted faster than my actions hahhaha..so yeah..not a very smart thing to do lah..so ladies and gents..the moral of the story is..Dont do household chores and other things that require a great amount of immediate reflex actions...especially after u've been brainfucked while studying..hahaha...

Ive learned my lesson..but the best part is, ill prob do it again..sometime in the future.. ahhaha

..Its the month of May already, Gosh!...been so caught up with the studying that the days just went by just like the snap of a finger. *snap*....Well, Heres wishing everyone who's err working a happy Labour day! hahah..and for the rest of the unemployed, namely " us" hahaah..its just another day to study..hahahah...

Sat for the International trade paper yesterday and boy!..what a rush, 2 hrs - 6 essays questions!..it was just pure adrenaline rush the moment the exam invigilator said " u may turn over the paper now"..the brain dept sent a signal and the respond was my handing picking up the pen and i just started writing hahah..pouring out all the information that was stored in my cranium....so damn tiring, didnt even know if what i wrote down made sense, haha well at least it made sense to Me! -grinz- but i dont think thats the main point now is it.. HAHAHHA.

Think a lot of people sacrificed sleep the night before, and i gotta respect those who had like biz finance paper on wed.. and had 3 damn days to study for I.T paper..was with Jian ming @ King albert park Mac's studying all the way till 2ish in the a.m, Asher came to join us later, but after two they both went to another 24-hrs mac to study while i chose to head on home to read up then snooze, wanted to catch some z's but in the end i ended up sleeping at 4ish..the damn brain was working O.T..i was like falling asleep and all of a sudden i'd open my eyes and think " Would a tariff be better or per unit subsidy on a positive externality on production"...then all those diagrams would pop up in my head..and i'll go " ahhh." then fall back to bed...hahah hate those moments..

But at least the paper is over and done with so yeah...plus i felt good yesterday's paper so yeah!..all's good then. Even went for a damn good lunch with angelina and jonathan @ brekko's at the Village of hollang, cause i thought we needed to be rewarded ...hahaha...man...the burgers there are the BEST!!!!...haha..after that fufilling lunch, headed on back to sch to study I.M.E but noting went into my damn head, so in the end, headed home to crash...ard 5ish... hahha..

Well its a new day...new start..for my brain that is..haaha..hope everyone else is studying hard and all!..rem to eat too and rest when necessarily !..all the best!!!...2 down...2 to go!!!.. Lets kick some ASS!!!!

Now i feel the damn stress..and like jo said earlier, i shldn't spend too much time on I.F.O , which i think i might have. ARggh..ive just started ONLY on topic 4 of i.m.e..trying to cover as much of i.m.e as i can for the whole day,and tmr iM gonna attempt the i.F.O past year paper..and mon just go through everything again...Yikes...
Woe is me..somebody saVe meeeeeeee!....

Got an unexpected call this morning, was reading through a bit of I.F.O in the am and my phone rang, it was showing a 812 609483827 number which i thought was my mom or dad calling from shanghai but it turned out to be my classmate from DMS...hahah..Zhi hao who just called all the way from Guangzhou hahaha..i was like WHoA! haha..

Apparently he's over there now doing some business or sort,the best thing is that he's from myanmar and all..haha..we had a good chat but not too long cuase he was paying for the call so yeah...Its great that time and distance still doesnt affect the friendship that we had and all..haha Gawd i miss the DMS days....projects were a lot, but the camaraderie and the new friends ive made, especially with the foreign students, the Indonesians, Veitnamese, PRC peepz and others were priceless i tell u...hahaha..

well shall get back on track to mugging..hmm looks like its gonna rain again.. -_-'''''...*sigh* at least i finally had a good long sleep today for the first time in two weeks!!!...slept at two last night and got up at 1030!..haha like i was telling angelina yesterday while mugging in school, sleep is a luxury i cant afford at this moment haha. Well i can sleep all i want after exams so yeah..the price one had to sacrifice in order to obtain my Future happiness hahahah..

Just holiday ah..JUST...hahaha..

busy day ...as usual was in school mugging again. Mucham like office hours like that, 9-5pm haha..then had to go Pick sis up from work cause we needed to pick up dad's car at the service station so yeah, i cant drive two cars now can i!!!,
topic 10 of i.f.o is a real BITCH..sucking the damn life force outta me, but i should be able to end if tonight.. No sleep tonite! haha..and hopefully rem everything that ive learnt and do the exam paper on sun and mon. I gotta cover I.M.E topic 5 and 6 by saturday if not i wont have time to touch on the rest..arggh 6 days to study for Investment and then another 6 days for I.T and 2 days for I.m.E and Im DONE!!...

awww..cant help but starting to feel a tad jaded..ARgh..prob due to the exam stress and constantly studying just every bloody day. *Grrrr* I have to bear with it.

Well on another note, the rents are leaving tmr for hongkong for a week plus? then probably head over to Shanghai after that...JUST go for holiday ah ..JUST haha...
So its gonna be my sis and me home alone again..NO love again hahhaaha.. =P

Its been a really busy week i guess, studying..doing chores and stuff and buying groceries and all. The usual..wad else =)..well shall get back to studying, im like sooo WAY OFF my schedule, was suppose to start on investment stuff today but im in the midst of topic 9 of I.F.O..so much for planning in advance aye...

Woe is me...like i said, hope i dont burnout way damn too early, its like all of a sudden im stricken with the Fear of not being able to complete all my studying for the 4 papers in time. ARggh...

Guess praying wouldnt really hurt now yeah?...it's been a while...i hope he's still willing to listen to me. =)....

Hmmm...collected the car earlier on, cause got new rims..which errr im still trying to find words to express how i felt when i saw them hahahhaha. I think i kinda prefer the old ones,but hey..wadever..its still a car, haha needed to change the tires too cause they were startin to get a tad worn out in the threads and stuff.Well the good thing is we decided to keep the rims as spare at my dad's friend workshop in case dad wanted to change to those for the other car...Save money too hahah..

alright!!..BACK to studying....

HAha...Well i have to admit, didnt expect to see the results of the STunner I.M.E test yesterday morning. Reached school ard 9ish? after dropping sis at work at T.p.y so yeah..kinda started the day right for me. *grinz*

Got a H.D...whee..haha.. im just glad that the countless sleepless nights have indeed reaped their rewards!... Ah..another nonchalant boring study day..*sigh*..think i'm like getting used to this daily mundane routine. eeeks....
